    Description

    Fully hallmarked sterling silver Victorian novelty combination vesta case with the base of a propelling pencil, pen knife and pick. The interior of the case is gilt.
    The case opens and closes securely and the pencil, knife and pick are all tight to open and close. There is a slight up and down movement of the knife. There is no apparent damage or dents to the case but there is obvious use of the knife and pick. The propelling pencil is not complete. It is an antique item and has been used so please review the photographs carefully as they are part of the description. Additional photos are available upon request.
    In the base of the match case are five marks - S.M in a square which is the makers mark for S. Mordan & Co from 1880-1889 along with the Lion for Sterling, the London Assay mark, the date mark for 1889 and the Queen Victoria duty mark
    Inside the lid of the match case is stamped A Barrett & Sons
    63 & 64 Piccadilly, S.M for S. Mordan Co, the date mark for 1889 and the Lion for Sterling
    The outside back of the match case is marked S.M, the Queen Victoria duty mark and the Lion Sterling mark.
    The vesta case measures approximately 2 1/16 inches long not including the two rings, 3/4 inches wide and 1/2 inch tall and weighs 40.5 grams.
    It has not been cleaned or polished.
