    Description

This item is a new unactivated trackable geocoin in the original and unopened packaging produced by Direct Mint at the request of Penn Soil RC&D Council, the official host of the Geowoodstock 9 Event held at the Fairgrounds in Warren County, PA on July 2, 2011.  This unique coin is a round 1.75 inch diameter geocoin that contains an inlay of the state symbol of PA, the Keystone, and features the traditional geocaching logo four corner and color design with additional inlaid symbols depicting our state tree-the Eastern Hemlock, our state mammal-the Whitetailed Deer, a black bear, and a bald eagle, our nations symbol.  The coin was produced  to commemorate the Geowoodstock 9 event which attracted 5000 geocaching participants from all over the world.  One side of the coin features the text for the event spelled out: Geowoodstock 9, the date it was held, and the location as well as the unique tracking number which allows you to track the coins movement on the geocaching.com website.  The second side of the coin features a historic image of Drake Well and the gps coordinates of the first commercial oil well drilled in the United States and is considered to be the beginning of the modern petroleum industry.  This side of the coin fittingly portrays a dark oil like color finish.  The site along Oil Creek was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and known as "The Valley That Changed The World" for it sparked a drilling revolution across the country.  On the side edge of the  geocoin, the names of the three local geocaching groups that worked together to plan and host the Geowoodstock 9 event are stamped into the edge of the special geocoin -Kinzua Cachers, NWPA Geocachers, and the Oil Region Cachers.  The coin is unactivated and is delivered in the original and unopened packaging.  Activation codes can be received by registering the coin on geocaching.com  The tracking number of the geocoin in the image provided has been deliberately blocked to prevent online discoveries from this auction.  Rest assured that your coin is unactivated and the tracking number is secured.
100% of all proceeds from this sale will benefit conservation and recreation projects in northwest Pennsylvania supported by Penn Soil RC&D Council, a 501-(c)-3 Charitable organization who served as the official host organization of the Geowoodstock 9 Event.
