The Mr. Peanut advertising doll was made by the Schoenhut Toy Company, founded in 1911 in Philadelphia by Albert Schoenhut, for the Planter’s Nut and Chocolate Co. The nut and chocolate organization was formed in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1906. The trademark, ‘Mr. Peanut’ was adopted for promotion by 1916. The Planter’s Nut Company merged with Nabisco in 2004.
