Authentic Catholic Polish Relic: The Image Of Jesus, The Veil Of St. Veronica. Original red wax seal of the Canon and the blue Gratis Seal of authenticity. Dated 1900-1, imprint by Fr. Albertus Lepidi and the blessings of Pope Leo XIII for the memorial Jubilee of the Universe. This is the real image of the Holy Face of Jesus Christ on the veil of St. Veronica which is kept with the greatest reverence. It is considered 2nd grade because it is not the original but has touched the original. Per my investigation of this relic. I inherited it from my Grandparents who came to USA in 1880’s and owned a store in Hamtramck, Michigan. The image is on fine linen and first done in 1849 in Rome by Pius IX who ordered the original veil to be displayed and had artist copy the face of Jesus to be on fine linen and given to the people as a memento. He had all the copies touch the veil and is considered 2nd stage relic. This was done every Jubilee or 25 years, then was stopped in early 1900’s. So this was probably one of the last ones done. The image was issued in different languages. This one is written Polish, of which I am very limited. It shows the name of image, who was associated, prayers and date. And the official seals. The Gratis seal is very faint but there. I will pack carefully with or without frame or glass and signature required in delivery. It is original frame which is in good condition for being 120 years old but the cardboard spacer and back are crumbling. Other relics cost at least 00.00. I am pricing to sell.
